The Quiet Ship — walkthrough

Complete spoilers. Every puzzle, in order. If you only want a nudge, the hint page gives you one thing at a time.

Each entry is one command, in order, separated by slashes. Directions are abbreviated (n, se, u, d). This is the exact sequence the game's own test suite runs, so it is always current.

Act I — Medical

examine bus / power vesta / ask vesta about the crew / ask vesta about power / read chart / s
s / read roster / s / open lockers / take drawing / s
take bar / examine rack / n / n / n / unpower vesta
power doors / in

Four units, and lighting is already up. Everything below is a swap: VESTA on to ask, VESTA off and the door servos on to leave. The bus bar in the storage bay is the one object Act II cannot be finished without.

Act II — The Spine

fit bar / power heat / n / examine runs / n / examine bench
in / power lab / read log / take tin / out / unpower lab
n / power doors / n

fit bar raises the cap from five to seven, and until it is fitted you cannot have trace heating and the door servos at the same time. Cross the tube cold and quickly, or warm up first and lose nothing but turns.

Act III — The Pod Bay

read notice / n / examine pods / examine eleventh / power lab / play recording

The recording needs the laboratory bus (three units), which means two other things come off. Play it before you go near a pod: the notice on the hatch says so, and it is the only instruction in the game that is addressed to you by name.

Act IV — The Reactor

d / examine limiter / use limiter / use limiter / decide

use limiter twice backs it off and gives you sixteen units for nine turns, after which the bar stops being copper. Decide what those nine turns are for before you touch it.

Act V — The Long Antenna

in / take letter / take band / out / d / power lab
open tin / u / unpower lab / power comms / s / transmit

The last command is the choice. transmit sends the whole of it home; stay keeps it aboard. There is a third ending and the ship asks you a question before it gives it to you.
