The Fire Curtain — walkthrough

Complete spoilers. Every puzzle, in order. If you only want a nudge, the hint page gives you one thing at a time.

Each entry is one command, in order, separated by slashes. Directions are abbreviated (n, se, u, d). This is the exact sequence the game's own test suite runs, so it is always current.

Act I — The Half

examine card / sign book / examine winch / out / examine draught / u
examine batten / u / examine louvres / d / d / d
n / ask bella about stair / s / u / e / e
ask cheshire about gallery / ask cheshire about keys / u / examine door / d / w
w / in

All four discoveries, then back to the box. The order does not matter.

Act II — The Flies

d / e / shut door / w / in / drop iron
drop iron / out

The walkthrough shuts the pass door and drops the iron and does not touch the lantern, which is the correct play. shut the dock door is not in it and should be.

Act III — The House

open leaves / ask cheshire for the gallery key / u / open door / d / wait
wait / wait / wait / wait / wait / wait
wait

ask cheshire about the gallery is the act. Hooking the leaves back first costs forty seconds and saves more than anything else you do.

Act IV — Understage

ask bella about who / ask bella about where / ask wardle about gas / e / ne / climb stair
sw / e / shut gas / n / take her / s
w / w

Ask Bella both questions before going in — the second one is the reason the child answers you. The dressing rooms are searched first because being certain is the job.

Act V — The Inquest

ask cheshire about gallery / ask cheshire about truth / ask bella about gallery / n / ask coroner about deposition / wait
say the gallery stair was locked

The last command is the ending. say it was the batten, say it was mine and say only what I saw are the other three, and all four are true.
