Ashgrove — walkthrough

Complete spoilers. Every puzzle, in order. If you only want a nudge, the hint page gives you one thing at a time.

Each entry is one command, in order, separated by slashes. Directions are abbreviated (n, se, u, d). This is the exact sequence the game's own test suite runs, so it is always current.

Act I — The Reading of the Will

Fourteen honest rooms. Take the plan out of the estate room, chalk at least one room, and speak to all four of them — Mrs Braddock, Mr Kytes, Dr Nall and the dog.

Act II — The Fifteenth Room

Pace the five first-floor rooms and then consult plan. The answer is a subtraction and arithmetic is not a mood.

Act III — The Nursery Stair

From here the prose lies. test east on the nursery stair and test south in the nursery — the candle finds the openings the descriptions do not mention.

Act IV — The Cellars

Chalk every cellar as you enter it. The name is in the parish transcripts in the muniment room. Do not go into the north cellar with the candle out.

Act V — Ashgrove

Read the wall, then tell Mrs Braddock his name in her own kitchen, and only then decide. Three endings: open the wall, keep it, or tell nall in the hall with the accounts in your hands.
